Appearance is a reflection of the pride that a person has in himself or herself.  Below are the Saint Jerome School rules and guidelines regarding uniforms and appearance while at school and on school trips: 

  • Students dress in uniform from the first day of school in September until the last school day in June unless you receive notification of a change.
     
  • Official School Uniform :  All students must have the items of clothing listed under Official School Uniform   (see below). The official school uniform is mandatory every First Friday , during Catholic Schools Week and on special School/Interschool functions throughout the year . The remainder of the other clothing items (listed separately below) are optional and may be worn on all other days.
     
  • Gym Uniforms will be worn for all field trips unless otherwise indicated.
     
  • Make-up or nail polish (other than clear nail polish) for both boys and girls is unacceptable.
     
  • Jewelry (other than a watch or a simple gold chain with a religious medal) is not permitted. Small button-type earrings are allowed for girls only. Boys may not wear earrings.
     
  • The uniform worn by the students is purchased through the Flynn O'Hara Uniform Company .   Uniform items can be purchased either online or at the Flynn O'Hara Holmdel store (click on Flynn O'Hara logo at the top of this page for store address & phone #, store hours, and/or to purchase items online).
  • On the days that the students are permitted to wear clothing other than their school uniform, please ensure that they dress neatly, modestly and not in play clothing.  NOT PERMITTED: jeans, sneakers, any type of spandex, stretch, midriff or skin tight clothing.

OFFICIAL SCHOOL UNIFORM

BOYS' OFFICIAL SCHOOL UNIFORM
(Grades K through 8)

  • Navy poly/cotton twill pants
  • Black or brown belt must be worn with all pants
  • White long sleeve button-down collar dress shirt
  • Navy school tie
  • Navy blue V-neck sweater vest or V-neck cardigan w/ school logo
  • Navy or white socks (NO "No Show" Socks)
     

GIRLS’ OFFICIAL SCHOOL UNIFORM
(Grades K through 5)

  • Navy & white plaid drop waist jumper 
  • White long sleeve Peter Pan collar blouse
  • Navy crew neck cardigan w/ school logo
  • Navy knee hi socks or tights (ribbed and/or opaque)
     
GIRLS’ OFFICIAL SCHOOL UNIFORM
(Grades 6, 7, 8)
  • Navy 100% polyester wrap around kilt  (For modesty and appearance, no skirt should be shorter than 2 inches above the knee)
  • White long sleeve button-down collar blouse
  • Navy V-neck sweater vest and/or V-neck cardigan w/school logo
  • Navy knee-hi socks or tights

AUTUMN AND SPRING MONTHS

  • White short sleeve Peter Pan collar blouse (K-5)

  • Blue short sleeve polo shirt w/school logo
  • Navy poly/cotton twill walking shorts
 
WINTER MONTHS
(BOYS AND GIRLS) 
  • Blue long sleeve polo shirt w/school logo
  • Navy flat front slacks (girls)

 

SHOES

All shoes for boys and girls must be dark (black, brown, or navy); have non-marking soles and heels that do not exceed one inch in height. No Boat Shoes / No Sneaker look-alikes.

 

ACCEPTABLE SHOES FOR BOYS

The only acceptable boys uniform shoe styles are: Bucks (tan acceptable), Loafers, Jungle Mocs, or Oxfords. No Boat Shoes / No Sneaker look-alikes.

 

ACCEPTABLE SHOES FOR GIRLS

The only acceptable girls uniform shoe styles are: Bucks (tan acceptable), Loafers, Mary Janes, or Oxfords. No Boat Shoes / No Sneaker look-alikes.

 

UNACCEPTABLE SHOES

For the safety of our students, both on the stairs and playground, the following shoes are UNACCEPTABLE : Boat shoes, sneaker look-alikes, ballet flats, moccasins, Sanuks, Uggs, clogs, sneakers, sandals, backless shoes, flip-flops, work boots, Vans, Etnies, iPaths.

*No prints, sparkles or sequins on shoes are permitted.


 

OFFICIAL GYM UNIFORM
(Boys and Girls Grades K through 8)

ONLY Saint Jerome navy tee shirt, navy sweatshirt, navy sweatpants, and navy gym shorts are permitted .   

  *Hooded Saint Jerome sweatshirts are considered outerwear and may not be worn in the classroom.

  SNEAKERS/SOCKS  

According to research, sneakers that offer cushioning and support are best for Physical Education.  Flat bottomed sneakers with no arch support are not acceptable.

Only solid white ankle and/or crew socks are to be worn with gym uniform. ( NO “No Show” Socks)


 

JEWELRY

Necklaces (other than a religious medal), bracelets, dangling earrings, nail polish/gels/tips and make-up are not permitted. Simple watches may be worn. Girls may wear small post earrings (one pair only); however, earrings for boys are not permitted. Body piercing or body art is prohibited.
