Welcome to second grade!  This school year promises to be filled with activities, projects, and exciting adventures that make learning fun!

Technology integration in the subject areas allows students to apply computer and technology skills to their learning and problem-solving.

Our math curriculum promotes conceptual, computational, and problem solving proficiency.  It offers a wide range of strategies and activities so that all students can experience success!

The reading and language arts curriculum emphasizes activities that build vocabulary, promote critical thinking skills, spelling skills, and reading comprehension.  Students also learn to organize ideas to create and develop stories with emphasis on providing descriptive detail to make their writing more exciting!

Our social studies units cover many interesting topics.  The year begins with learning about our community.  It continues with a study of maps, citizenship, and the importance of caring for the environment.  Current event topics are also discussed.

In Science we will explore the Earth and its resources as well as many different animals and their habitats.

Our class will be preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.  Throughout the year, the children will learn many signs of God’s loving care as well as the importance of showing love to others.

The students also participate in physical education, art, music, computers, and Spanish.

It’s going to be an exciting year for the second grade!  By working together, we will make many new and wonderful discoveries!
